Who can become a Partner in American Sustainable Business Council?

The American Sustainable Business Council is a network of organizations.  Members in the Council are called Partners. Partner organizations represent businesses and social enterprises as well as entrepreneurs, executives, owners, and investors committed to building a vibrant, just, and sustainable economy Partners may have individuals or businesses as their members.

Partners may include national cross-industry groups, single-industry trade and professional associations, and city and regional business groups.  The criteria for joining are:

  • The organization represents primarily a business perspective and a business constituency
  •  The organization agrees with and pledges to support the mission and values of ASBC
  • The organization agrees to support ASBC through an annual dues structure.

What is the process for becoming a Partner in the Council?


Organizations interested in becoming a Partner in the Council complete an application that is reviewed and determinations are made on a rolling basis.


What dues will my organization pay to be a Partner in the Council?


Annual Fees vary depending on the size of the organization. Please contact us for details.


What does my organization receive in exchange for becoming a Partner in the Council?


Partners benefit from the ongoing educational and advocacy work led by the Council and have a role in governance of the Council.   More specifically, Partners receive the following benefits: 

  • Affiliating with a large and growing national network of sustainable and socially responsible businesses and social enterprises
  • Public policy campaigns that engage your members
  • Briefings and other educational opportunities on key public policy issues
  • Trips to Washington D.C., organized to meet legislators and other policy makers
  • Communicating with national, regional, and local media about the priorities of sustainable and socially responsible businesses and social enterprises
  • Materials and tools to support your engagement of your members on policy issues.
  • Joining board-established working groups on specific policy issues and capacity-development efforts.

For Prospective Business Supporters

Can my business join ASBC?


Individual businesses do not join ASBC as Partners, but can support and participate in the Council's work by becoming Business Supporters.  Benefits that Business Supporters receive are similar to those of ASBC Partners. Business sponsorships start at $5,000 per year and range upward based on the size of the organization.  Contact us for details.

 

For Interested Individuals


Can I join ASBC as an individual?

 

ASBC does not have a membership category for individuals.  Individuals interested in the work of ASBC are encouraged join any of the outstanding organizations that are Partners in the Council. Individual financial support is also encouraged.


 In addition, you may add your name to our email distribution list to receive news and alerts about future campaigns.  

 

Can I start an American Sustainable Business Council chapter or affiliate in my area?

 

ASBC does not have a formal chapter structure, but we encourage the formation of new organizations that bring together sustainable and socially responsible businesses on a state, regional, or city basis.  Many ASBC Partners have local networks or chapters that welcome individual members.
