Communications Manager (part-time)

The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) is seeking a highly motivated part-time team member with excellent writing ability and social media expertise to promote our organization among our diverse stakeholders. The position begins in mid-May 2021 and is remote.
This role advances ASBC’s policy priorities by promoting its membership and campaigns as well as engaging with legislators and businesses in the sustainable business community. ASBC is a national policy and advocacy organization working with leading companies and through coalitions to build a sustainable economy. Now more than ever, companies are leading the way in addressing social, environmental, and economic issues of sustainability inclusive of and beyond their own operations. At ASBC, you will work directly with businesses and legislators to identify opportunities and partnerships to promote priority issues. The Communications Manager will support the communications and policy teams to ensure consistent progress towards legislative and regulatory priorities, regularly communicating our priorities and membership through social media.
The successful candidate will support ASBC campaigns on a range of issues, including promoting policy priorities to advance legislation at the federal and state levels.
Functions and responsibilities:
- Engaging members, businesses, journalists, and legislators through media communications and outreach
- Managing and tracking ASBC social media platforms and the associated data, mainly via Twitter and our other platforms
- Promoting ASBC’s policy priorities, campaigns, and membership
- Constantly innovating and evolving outreach strategies to improve ASBC’s reach and visibility
Brief description: The Communications Manager position is funded for approximately 20 hours per week and will work with the policy team to promote ASBC’s legislative and regulatory priorities, communicating priorities through social media and to members. The Communications Manager helps advocate for ASBC campaigns on a range of issues, including supporting ASBC campaigns to advance legislation at the federal and state levels. The Communications Manager also assists with recruiting membership by promoting the ASBC brand on social media and through strategic outreach.
