Profile

Juan Verde founded and serves as President of the Advanced Leadership Foundation (ALF), a Washington, DC-based  non-profit operating in ten countries and dedicated to identifying, developing, integrating and globalizing incoming generations of social, business, and political leaders.

Juan was appointed by President Obama as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) and has worked closely with leading U.S. political figures and their campaigns including former U.S. Presidents Obama and Clinton, former U.S. Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, and former Vice President Al Gore as a recognized serial social entrepreneur and authority on strategy, innovation, and sustainability.

Juan Verde has founded or co-founded several successful global consulting practices over the past three decades and serves, or has served as a consultant to companies such as Google, Cisco, SAS, and Banco Santander in the United States.  He has also worked closely with institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank, Harvard University, and the World Bank.  Juan’s sustainability and climate change passions led to a multi-year, global collaboration with former Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project.

Multi-lingual and multi-cultural, Juan holds a Master´s Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations from Boston University.
