1% for the Planet
1% for the Planet exists to build, support, and activate an alliance of businesses financially committed to a healthy planet.
The 1% model is simple. Companies make a commitment to give 1% or more of their annual sales to non-profit organizations working on sustainability issues. 1% for the Planet screens non-profit organizations and gives partner status to those that meet 1% for the Planet’s non-profit criteria. Each year, companies report their annual sales and donations to 1% for the Planet, who certifies that giving to the 1% level has occurred. 1% member companies are able to use the 1% logo to help communicate their commitment to the environment and tell their giving story.
The 1% network includes more than 1450 companies, 2800 environmental non-profits, two dozen 1% ambassadors, and more than 40 media partners. In 2011, our member companies donated $23 million to non-profit organizations working on sustainability issues around the globe.
